The Prenatest® prenatal screening test is performed during your first trimester of pregnancy. It lets you know whether you are at risk of carrying a fetus that may be affected by one of the most common birth anomalies: Down syndrome (trisomy 21), trisomy 18 and other chromosomal anomalies.
Quick and straightforward, the Prenatest method includes a few drops of blood taken from the tip of the patient's finger and a fetal ultrasound. The test is designed for all pregnant women, regardless of their age, and does not pose any danger to the mother or to the fetus. The test offers results as early as in the first trimester, but may also be adapted for testing during the second trimester.
The Prenatest prenatal screening test is offered throughout Quebec by Warnex Inc., a company based in Laval, Quebec.
